DISASTER SERVICES

Every year, natural disasters cost Americans $15 billion in insured losses.

Earthquakes, hurricanes, tornados, wildfires, droughts, flooding, and other natural disasters pose the greatest threat to our country.

The Salvation Army has over 100 years of experience responding to disasters and we are always among the first relief agencies to respond in time of tragedy with food, water, supplies and pastoral care across Sarasota County and beyond.

In Sarasota County, we partner with the Sarasota County Emergency Operations Center as an official first responder and we also support other Salvation Army Area Commands statewide to bring relief.

The Salvation Army Sarasota County is ready to assist in the three stages of disasters through its cadre of trained personnel and volunteers and expansive inventory of facilities and vehicles: preparedness, response and recovery.

Preparedness:

  • Emergency Planning
  • Creating Partnerships
  • Training Personnel

Response:

  • Feeding
  • Sheltering
  • Distributing non-food items
  • Emotional and spiritual care
  • Financial assistance
  • Recovery

Emergency Social Services:

  • Rebuilding assistance
  • Emotional and spiritual care
  • Case management to find solutions
  • Financial assistance
